For all you Hockey followers, you know yesterday during the Memorial Cup game between the Halifax Mooseheads and Portland Winterhawks in Saskatoon, the Canadian singer delivered one of the worst renditions of The Star-Spangled Banner ever!!

No matter how awesome your voice might be, when you don’t know the lyrics to a song you might as well save yourself the embarrassment and stay quiet! Normand began trailing off during her performance, pauses and begins mixing up lines and verses from the anthem which has been sung proudly since 1831.

To be fair is not the first time a singer forgets the lyrics to an anthem or any song for that matter, Normand has apologized in both twitter and her Facebook page and honestly that’s all she can do.

Let’s cut her some slack and get to know more about her. After her participation in Chant’Ouest 2002 (interprovincial gala West), Alexis continued her studies in music and education at the University of Ottawa before embarking on a year of training at the National School of Granby Song.

Since her return to Saskatchewan in 2008, she actively works with the musical talent of hes native province. In addition to offering nearly 50 workshops for young Francophones and Francophiles musicians, she has served as musical director of the most recent edition of Chant’Ouest.

In January 2010, she released her first recording – an EP of five tracks warmly welcomed by stations in the country. Since then, it has offered a lot of shows in various festivals and events including the Regina Folk Festival (SK), the Edmonton Chante Festival (AB) and Prairie Scene (Ottawa). She also starred in the West (October 2010), the East (with Anique Granger, February 2012) and has just completed a school tour in Saskatchewan (January / March 2012). January 15, 2013, Alexis Normand launched Mirador , her debut album is the result of a collaboration with Zoe Fortier, a Fransaskois visual artist. Together, the two artists have followed the same artistic approach to study their relationship with the spaces around them. Inspired largely from their native plains, the result of their collaboration is carried in three stories: that of an album, a series of paintings and a show. Alexis has received two nominations for the Trillium Gold Award in the category “Discovery par excellence of the West” and “Best Album of the West.”
