Meet Todd Palin
Todd Palin is the husband of Alaska’s former governor, Sarah Palin. Recent reports indicate 51-year-old Todd was critically injured in a snowmobile crash.
His wife was the first female governor of Alaska, and was also John McCain‘s running mate in the U.S. presidential elections of 2008.
Sarah Louise Heath was born in Idaho but moved to Alaska with her family when she was three months old. She played high school basketball for Wasilla High in the 1982 championship team. Sarah is also a former pageant contestant. She placed second in the Miss Alaska contest of 1984. Palin holds a journalism degree from the University of Idaho.
After a few stints as a TV sportscaster in Anchorage, Sarah Palin joined the Wasilla city council in 1992, then served as the city’s mayor from 1996-2002. She was sworn in as Alaska’s first woman governor on December 4, 2006.
But the former governor rose to international recognition after Arizona senator, John McCain made her the Republican Party’s first female candidate for vice president. Palin was mocked a number of times due to her perceived lack of experience. Following their loss to Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Palin stayed in the public eye and in a surprise move, she resigned on July 26, 2009, in the middle of her first term as governor, handing power over to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.
Palin then began a new career as a highly-paid public speaker and Obama critic. She published a memoir, Going Rogue (2009), and starred in her own reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which ran for eight episodes in 2010-11. She also became a paid commentator for Fox News in 2010 until 2013.
She launched her own “channel” for videos in July of 2014.
After her college graduation Palin returned to Alaska and married Todd Palin. Todd Palin met Sarah at Wasilla High School, where both played basketball.
Todd and Sarah tied the knot in 1988, according to Lifetimetv they eloped. The couple have five children together: two sons and three daughters. Sarah first gave birth to son Track in 1989; daughters Bristol in 1990, Willow born in 1994, and Piper in 2000. Their youngest son, Trig, born in 2008, he has Down Syndrome.
Todd Palin runs his commercial fishing business. He was born in September 1964 and is part Yu’pik Eskimo. He also worked for oil company BP, at a Prudhoe Bay processing facility as a manager. Todd Palin had to take a leave from the company when his wife became governor to avoid a potential conflict of interest.
Todd Palin is very into sports, he is a four-time winner of the Iron Dog race. Todd Palin was also featured with his family in the television reality show Sarah Palin’s Alaska in 2010. He is often seen accompanying Sarah on the tour circuit.
The former Alaska First Gentleman, also known as “First Dude” and almost his entire family have come under media scrutiny, in part because of their children, Bristol –who got pregnant at 18. Son, Track Palin has also had his share of trouble in the past.
Most recently it was reported Sarah had endorsed presidential candidate, Donald Trump earlier this year.
