Mollie Tibbetts’ Killer Cristhian Rivera

This is Cristian Rivera; the 24-year-old illegal immigrant who took the life of 20-year-old University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts when she went for a jog on July 18. Mr. Rivera confessed to chasing Mollie and he led authorities to her body.

5’6″ Cristian Bahena Rivera (b. June 11, 1994) originally from El Guayabillo in Tecpan, Guerrero, Mexico had been living illegally in the United States for four to seven years. Rivera lived with his girlfriend Iris Monarrez on a secluded farmhouse owned by Yarrabee farms’ owners Mary and Craig Lang.

Iris Monarrez from Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, is apparently the mother of Rivera’s three-year-old daughter Paulina. According to Rivera, his girlfriend Iris and Mollie are friends on Facebook.

Surveillance footage showed Mollie jogging and Rivera following her in his dark Chevy Malibu; according to him Mollie told him she was going to call the police if he continues to harass her;  she ran off, he freaked out, chased after her.

Rivera added that he attacked her after blacking out and didn’t remember what happened until he was back in his car driving.

He followed her and seemed to be drawn to her on that particular day. For whatever reason he chose to abduct her,’ Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation special agent Rick Ryan said on Tuesday afternoon.

While driving he found Mollie’s earphones sitting on his lap and blood in the car then remembered he’d stuffed her in the truck.

Rivera drove her then to a cornfield where he hauled her body out of the truck and hid her beneath corn stalks.

This what police said about Rivera’s chilling confession

‘Rivera admitted to making contact with the female running in Brooklyn and that he pursued her in his vehicle in an area east of Brooklyn. Defendant Rivera stated he parked the vehicle, got out and was running behind her and alongside of her.

‘Criathian stated that she grabbed her phone and said: ‘I’m gonna call the police.’

‘Rivera said he then panicked and he got mad and that he ‘blocked’ his memory; which is what he does when he gets very upset and doesn’t remember anything after that until he came to at an intersection; also stated he then made a U-turn, drove back to an entrance to a field and then drove into a driveway to a cornfield.

‘He noticed there was an earpiece from headphones in his lap and that this is how he realized he put her in the trunk, went to get her out of the trunk and noticed blood on the side of her head; he then dragged Tibbetts on foot to a secluded location in a cornfield, put her over his shoulder and took her 20 meters into the field where he left her, covered up in some leaves

‘Rivera went to get her out of the trunk and he noticed blood on the side of her head; described the female’s clothing, what she was wearing including an earphone or headphone set.

‘He described that he dragged Tibbetts on foot from his vehicle to a secluded location in a cornfield.

‘Rivera put her over his shoulder and took her about 20 meters into the cornfield and he left her covered in some corn leaves and that he left her there, face up.”

 

Furthermore, Cristhian Rivera has been charged.
