Melora Rivera is the Hollywood writer daughter of veteran news anchor, Amanda Rivera –who died on Wednesday after suffering a massive stroke.



Melora’s beloved mom was on her way to a funeral on December 27th when she had a medical emergency at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. She died the next night, according to CBS.

Davis who was a part of the CBS46 morning news team –was a news anchor in Atlanta for more than 30 years. She previously worked at FOX5 Atlanta, where she helped launch Good Day Atlanta in 1992. She became a main anchor five years later, according to FOX5, but retired from the station in 2013.

Her career included covering Coretta Scott King’s funeral and interviewing President Barack Obama. Davis’s career garnered 10 Southeast Emmy Awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award.

More recently, Davis revealed she had a problem with alcohol following a failed relationship. She was arrested in 2012 for a DUI which led her to receive treatment.

Davis is survived by her daughter, Hollywood writer Melora Rivera.

Melora Rivera has served as staff writer for a number of prominent television productions, including ‘Being Mary Jane.’ According to her IMDb profile, Rivera joined the Akil Productions team in 2011 as an assistant to Director Salim Akil. At the time time, she worked on Sparkle (2012), The Game (2012-13) and Being Mary Jane (2013) before climbing up the ranks as a writer’s assistant and script coordinator during seasons one and two of BET’s Being Mary Jane.”

She currently serves as Director of Development where she oversees the company’s film and television projects.

Rivera also grabbed headlines in 2014 however, it wasn’t exactly for her work. It was reported at the time she had escaped from an intruder by going up the roof of her home in Los Angeles.
