Gwen Ward
Gwen Ward’s husband, known for his role as one of the truck drivers on the extremely popular History Channel’s reality show, Ice Road Truckers, was tragically killed after his plane crashed.
According to a statement on his Facebook page, Ward had been travelling from a truck show in Dallas, Texas, and on his way to start filming the pilot for new a documentary about the recovery of plane wrecks in Montana.
Reports say Darrell was flying with a co-pilot when their Cessna single engine plane crashed on approach near the Rock Creek exit of Interstate 90.
The Montana native came to fame after he was featured for the last five of the History Channel show’s 10 seasons.
Darrell Ward came to fame with his role on the extremely popular History Channel’s reality show, Ice Road Truckers. His social media info describes Trucking had always been a large part of Darrell’s life; “from running the harvest rigs with his grandparents and family, to driving trucks from Montana to Alaska and all roads in between.”
He was a self proclaimed “adrenaline junkie” who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, dirt bike riding and all things outdoors.
He was also known for his motto, “Any road, any load.”
He is survived by wife, Gwen and their two children, Reno and Terra. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, including granddaughter Laila. Terra wrote on her Facebook page as a tribute to her father:
No one will ever take you from me no matter how hard the world tries dad nothing can even be put into words how much I love you how much it hurts me to know I can’t talk to you everyday! I’ve called your phone soo many times tonight! I’ve never needed you more in my life then right now a hug an it’s alright because I am the most lost I have ever been! People don’t understand they tell me sorry but they don’t know how sorry I am the week we spent together the look on lailas face when you were water skiing when she was yelling careful papa how shaylee will never get the chance to know your jokes I can’t say enough about you! I love you so much daddy I love you so much! You are the Legend
Gwen Ward celebrated last year when her son, Reno, was picked First Team All Conference. Gwen Ward can also be found under Gwen Menhusen-Ward on Facebook. She was the daughter of James E. “Jim” Menhusen who died aged 75, in 2014; according to his obituary.
