Noah Baumbach is the proud and supportive husband of actress/ director, Greta Gerwig –who just received her very first Oscar nomination.
Noah’s wife has made Academy Awards history as the first woman to get a nod for her debut film. She also becomes the fifth woman to be recognized by the film Academy director’s branch. Born August 4, 1983, the California native studied English and philosophy at Barnard College.
Since giving acting a try, she has starred in the critically-acclaimed 2010 film Greenberg. She also appeared in the romantic comedies Arthur and No Strings Attached. The blonde also provided the voice of Pony Marks on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim show, China, IL. Other roles include “20th Century Women” and “Frances Ha.”
Above all else, Greta has certainly made his mark with her directorial debut in the 2017 film, Lady Bird –which also received a nomination from the Directors Guild of America.
But it’s possible that the lovely actress/director/writer Greta may have had some help from her man, Noah Baumbach.
The two have been dating since 2011 and Noah, also happens to be a writer/director.
Noah Baumbach was born September 3, 1969; the New York native grew-up surrounded by cinema as one of the four kids born to film critic parents, Georgia Brown and Jonathan Baumbach.
He graduated from Vassar College with a BA in English. He made his first movie, Kicking and Screaming at age 26. By now, he’s been in the industry for over two decades and is known for developing dramatic comedies. His most recent work is the 2017 film, The Meyerowitz Stories.
His films include the 2005 critically-acclaimed The Squid and the Whale and 2013’s Frances Ha.
Noah and Greta first worked together on the dyspeptic 2010 comedy Greenberg and then cemented their union with 2012’s freewheeling Frances Ha, about a mediocre dancer who “can’t account for her bruises”. Their collaborations continued with Mistress America in 2015.
Baumbach was previously married to Jennifer Jason Leigh from 2005 until 2013. The two welcomed one son, Rohmer Emmanuel Baumbach.
