Ali Wentworth is the longtime wife of journalist and political commentator, George Stephanopoulos. The two have been married since 2001 and together share two children.
Ali’s hubby was once a political operative and advisor, but the Massachusetts native is best known for being a political correspondent with ABC News and as the co-anchor of Good Morning America.
Born February 10, 1961 to Greek parents, George was raised in Ohio and went onto study theology at Balliol College, Oxford University, England. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and graduated summa *** laude in political science.
George who served as a political advisor to the Democratic Party and later as a communications director for the 1992 presidential campaign of Bill Clinton –joined ABC News in 1997. He was hired as an analyst for This Week. In 2009 he began co-anchoring GMA and became Chief Anchor at ABC News in 2014.
As Chief Anchor, Stephanopoulos leads the network’s coverage on all major live events and breaking news around the world. He has interviews numerous personalities in his career. His work as a journalist has earned him three Emmys, a DuPont, three Murrows, and two Cronkite Awards.
In 2001 he and Ali Wentworth tied the knot.
Ali is short for Alexandra, she was born January 12, 1965. The lovely blonde is a D.C. native and you might know her from her career as an actress.
Alexandra Elliot “Ali” Wentworth was born to a prominent family. She studied at the Dana Hall School for Girls in Wellesley, Massachusetts. And later attended Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
Her mother, Muffie Brandon Cabot, was the social secretary to Nancy Reagan; while her father Eric Wentworth was a reporter for the Washington Post. Her mother married Louis Wellington Cabot, a former chairman of the Cabot Corporation, the Boston chemical company, and of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
She grew up to become a multifaceted performer. From 1992 until 1994 she was a cast member on the Fox sketch comedy series In Living Color. She gained popularity for her numerous impressions including Cher, Hillary Clinton, Princess Diana, among others.
Her TV credits include Seinfeld and Felicity. She also landed her own talk show, Living it Up! With Ali and Jack, in 2003.
Ali, also an author, wrote ”The WASP Cookbook” (Warner Treasures, 1997), which offers recipes for mayonnaise sandwiches on white bread and ”Binky’s Bourbon Nips for Derby Day.”
She and George were set up on a blind date and dated for only a few months before getting married. Aside from being a wife, actress, comedian, author and producer, she is also the mother of the couple’s two daughters. Elliot born in 2002 and Harper, born in 2005.
Earlier this year, George and Ali both shared on Twitter, 14-year-old daughter Elliot suffers from Scoliosis.
