Florence Elizabeth Hansen was the long time wife of long time soap actor, Peter Hansen. Her husband was known for his iconic role of lawyer, Lee Baldwin, on the soap opera General Hospital.



Florence Elizabeth and her husband were happily married for 50-years before she passed in 1993. Peter died on April 9, 2017 at his home in Santa Clarita, California. He was 95-years-old and had been a widow for the last 24-years.

He is survived by his son and daughter and 3 grandkids: Allison, Erik and Jamal.

Peter Franklin Hansen was born December 5, 1921. According to online info, the California native –who was raised in Detroit, Michigan –made his acting debut at age 13, in the Dutch film, Willem Van Orange (1934).

Peter Hansen served as a United States Marine Corps aviator in World War II. He flew F4U Corsairs and participated in the invasion of Peleliu in September 1944.

During the 60’s, he made commercials for Chrysler products appearing on The Lawrence Welk Show.

Hansen appeared on General Hospital from 1965 to 1976, 1977 to 1986, was on it in 1990 and from 1992 to 2004. His work on the show earned him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 1979.

Hansen was also known for his role in the movies “When Worlds Collide” and “Dragonfly” … and has over 100 acting credits to his name over an almost 70-year career.

He last appear on General Hospital in 2004, that same year he retired from acting, though he made a 2013 appearance at the off-screen 50th Anniversary party.

According to his obituary, he served as companion to Barbara Wenzel, following the death of his beloved wife, Florence Elizabeth Hansen, known as Betty.

Florence Elizabeth and Hansen shared two children, son Peter and daughter Gretchen. The wife and mother of two was born Florence Elizabeth Moe. She and Peter met while attending Lincoln High School. Peter and Betty married on July 7, 1943.
