Meet Faklan Abdeslam
Faklan Abdeslam is the mother of French national and terrorism suspect, Salah Abdeslam. Her 26-year-old is one of at least 10 men to have participated directly in the Paris Attack, four months ago.
Faklan’s son has been on the lookout, after he became the main suspect in the Paris Attack, that left over 100 dead and more than 300 people injured.
Salah is believed to have been the driver of the car that carried a team of terrorists to the Bataclan theater, where 89 people perished.
Salah, has been on the run since November’s attacks in the French capital. The deadly attack killed 130 people. Authorities say Salah, called friends to collect him in Paris hours after the attacks. While they were driving him back to Belgium, the car was briefly stopped at the French-Belgian border and Abdeslam’s ID was checked, but he was overlooked by the French and allowed to continue through to Belgium.
Following a four month international manhunt, reports say, Salah has been found and arrested. Abdeslam was caught during an operative in the Molenbeek area of Brussels. He was shot in the leg during the raid. Police had been following his lead closely, as his fingerprints were found at a flat that had been raided in the Forest area of Brussels on Tuesday.
Faklan Abdeslam gave birth to Salah on September 15, 1989 in Brussels. She is also the mother of two other sons, Ibrahim and Mohammed. Her son, Ibrahim, was one of the shooters that blew himself outside cafe Comptoir Voltaire, on the November 13th attack. While son, Mohammed had no involvement with his brothers.
Salah Abdeslam had several brushes with the law, mainly for minor offenses; while Ibrahim Abdeslam served time in a Belgian prison back in 2010.
His fiancée was quoted in the Belgium media saying that he would be killed before he would allow himself to be captured.
After the involvement of two of her sons was made public, Faklan Abdeslam said of 31-year-old Ibrahim –who detonated his suicide vest outside the Comptoir Voltaire café on Boulevard Voltaire injuring 15 people –that he must have detonated his explosives by accident, and that he carried on with the attack because he was stressed.
Faklan Abdeslam and her family had been living at a village in northern Morocco before their emigration.
