Antonios Pagourtzis is the father of Dimitrios Pagourtzis; her son is the 17-year-old boy who killed 10 people at Santa Fe High School; currently held at Galveston County Jail. His father said his son is a good boy, who was the victim of bullying at school, ultimately led to the mass shooting.



Mr. Pagourtzis said the firearms his gun used to kill eight students and two teachers belonged to him, and that his son took them out of the closet. He added that while he is devastated by his son’s terrible crimes; he knows that Dimitrios was the victim of bullying at school; although that is no excuse for his son’s wrongdoing, it was what eventually triggered him.

Antonios was born in Magoulitsa, Western Thessaly in Greece on November 25, 1954; s 12 subsequently, at the age of 12, he moved to the United States. Nowadays, Mr.  Pagourtzis owns a  shipping repair business, called North American Marine, Inc.

 “I only had the clothes I wore and an extra pair of boots,” he said. “This country treated us well. I worked hard and became a shipowner. I had three ships, which I sold,” he said.

Antonios met Rose Marie Kosmetatos (b. March 12, 1970) in the late 90’s. They tied the knot on March 25, 2000,  in Texas. Together they had two children;  Dimitrios and a young daughter.

Furthermore, Antonios’ wife Rose Pagourtzis; is an administrative associate in The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston’s Department of Pediatric Endocrinology.
