Norberto Susini
Norberto Susini is a baseball catcher who plays in the minor leagues and also happens to be the nephew of former baseball star, Alex Rodriguez.
Susini who is currently signed to the Generales de Durango of the Mexican Baseball League is grabbing headlines but not for his work on the field. Reports say the 29-year-old was kidnapped after a car sale deal went wrong.
Born Norberto Miguel Susini on January 24, 1989; the New York native attended Braddock high school in Miami, Florida. He went onto play baseball at Odessa College in Odessa, TX. Since then he’s played for over a decade in the minors.
In June 2011 he signed with the Seattle Mariners, a few days later he was assigned to AZL Mariners from Seattle Mariners. According to a profile, he played 17 games in the Arizona Rookie League, hitting .261. That September he was released from the team.
In March 2012, the Minnesota Twins signed the free agent to a minor league contract. He then joined the Newark Bears of the Can-Am League and then played for the Bridgeport Bluefish.
In 2013, Norberto Susini played for Kansas City in the American Association and hit, 290. Last year, he signed with the Generales de Durango of the Mexican Baseball League.
Susini who’s also played the infielder position, is said to sale high-end cars as a side job. According to the New York Post, he met up with two men on Wednesday, interested in buying a Lamborghini from him.
Susini and the buyers Lamin Vucetovic and Anthony Gilkes –were all finishing the details of the purchase at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, when things took a dark twist after the two men held Susini against his will.
They even asked for ransom money to Susini’s associates but they called police instead. Both Lamin Vucetovic and Anthony Gilkes have been charged with unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping.
According to social media, Norberto Susini is the proud father to a daughter, Zoie Susini.
