Florida high school shooting victims
The Florida high school shooting on Valentine’s Day left a death toll of 17 victims and at least other 15 injured.
19-year-old Nikolas Cruz brought death and chaos at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on Wednesday. Cruz, a former student at Stoneman Douglas HS, set out a fire alarms to maximize the number of casualties, obtaining seventeen and becoming one of 10 deadliest shootings in modern U.S. history.
Of the 17 people killed, find below the victims who have been publicly identified so far. Among them a football coach, an athletic director and young students.
#1 Jamie Guttenberg
Jamie was a students who was identified by her father in a Facebook post. She is survived by both her parents, Fred and Jennifer Guttenberg as well as a brother, Jesse.
#2 Nicholas Dworet
Nicholas, also a student was on his senior year. He was well known due to his competitive swimming abilities. He had been recruited for the University of Indianapolis and aspired to compete in the 2020 Olympics.
#3 Alyssa Alhadeff
Another student, Alyssa –was a soccer player for Parkland Travel Soccer.
#4 Meadow Pollack
18-year-old Miss Pollack was a senior who was planning to attend Lynn University, according to relatives.
#5 Martin Duque
Another student, Martin’s death was confirmed by his older brother, Miguel Duque.
#6 Gina Montalto
The 14-year-old freshman was also a volunteer with the Friendship Initiative.
#7 Cara Loughran
Cara’s death was confirmed by a neighbor of her mother.
#8 Luke Hoyer
The student’s body was found by police on the third floor of the school.
#9 Joaquin Oliver
Oliver also a student, was born in Venezuela and became a US citizen in 2017 as reported by the Miami Herald.
#10 Alaina Petty
Alaina Petty was only 14-years-old.
#11 Carmen Schentrup
Carmen was a semifinalist for the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.
#12 Alex Schachter
Alex was a member of the of high school’s marching band. He played the trombone.
#13 Scott Beigel
Mr. Beigel was a geography teacher at Stoneman Douglas. He is said to have been shot while trying to usher students back into the classroom.
#14 Aaron Feis
Aaron Feis is being hailed as a hero, the assistant coach is said to have shielded students, ultimately losing his life. He leaves behind a wife and a young daughter.
#15 Chris Hixon
Mr. Hixon another victim, served as the athletic director for Stoneman Douglas High School.
