Meet 32-year-old Wojciech Braszczok, he is the undercover police officer with the New York Police Department and ten year NYPD veteran in the motorcycle vs. SUV assault case!  The chase and the beating of Mr. Lien received widespread attention after a video taken by one of the riders circulated online. It showed riders chasing the vehicle onto the streets of Upper Manhattan. That video ended just as one motorcyclist, later identified as Reginald Chance, 37, began smashing his helmet into the driver’s side window.

According to Internal Affairs. Braszczok has now been charged as the sixth member of the biker gang in the alleged attack of SUV driver Alexian Lien, a video obtained by internal affairs with screenshot images prompted the arrest of the undercover NYPD Detective yesterday.

The New York Daily News claims today that Wojciech Braszczok had to go out and hire a private attorney since he allegedly lie in the case investigation now his union allegedly does not want to help him. What was the alleged bogus story that he offered? The detective, Wojciech Braszczok, who was off duty at the time, told his lawyer that, while he had followed the motorcyclists from the Henry Hudson Parkway onto a Washington Heights street, he left once some of the riders began attacking the vehicle.

But photos and videos allegedly linked the undercover officer to the Lien case. In the video, the detective can be seen pounding his fists on the back of the vehicle. It was not immediately clear whether Detective Braszczok struck the driver, Alexian Lien, 33, after he was pulled from the black Range Rover by other motorcyclists in traffic on 178th Street, the official said. The detective was charged with riot and criminal mischief, though more counts could be added.

Detective Braszczok was placed on modified duty after he came forward last Wednesday; which made his story even more suspicious, to say he had been present. His arrest will result in his suspension.

Do you think he should have taken police action? Why he failed to call 911 when the assault was taking place? Perhaps he didn’t want to blow-up his cover and risk ruining years-long investigations?

After all he is seen punching and kicking the SUV and then leaving the scene. What do you think he should have done?
