Randy Plimpton: Martha Stewart’s Sister Laura Plimpton’s Husband

Martha Stewart’ sister Laura Plimpton has died from a brain aneurysm on Tuesday, August 5th.  at her home in Connecticut. Mrs. Plimpton who is Martha’s kid sister and her right hand leaves behind her three children and second husband Randy Plimpton. Laura Plimpton was 59.

Martha Stewart released the following statement on her beloved sister’s passing..

“My youngest sister, and the youngest of the six Kostyra siblings, Laura Kostyra Plimpton, passed away today in Norwalk Hospital. Laura worked for me and the company for more than 25 years.”

Laura Kostyra Plimpton , the sixth and youngest child born on was born on March 4, 1955 to Edward “Eddie” Kostyra and Martha Ruszkowski Kostyra.

Laura’s first husband Mr. Kim Herbert, the father of her two eldest children (Christopher Dylan and Sophie Martha), passed away in October, 1985, she then tied the knot with Mr. Randy Plimpton with whom she had one more child, her youngest son Charlie Plimpton.

Laura Plimpton’s 33-year-old son Christopher “Chris” a classical singer,with a B.A. in Music from Yale University and an M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University.,

Chris got married to pianist and conductor Timothy Long in September, 2010 at Martha’s estate in Katonah, N.Y.

Mrs. Plimpton’s only daughter Sophie Herbert, a Cooper Union School of Art graduated, yoga instructor, photographer and life  coach from New York City’s Open Center.

Sophie Herbert now also known as Sophie Herbert Slater, got married to her husband Dan Slater, an author and journalist in Las Vegas last July.

Dan Slater, the author of the book Love in the time of Algorithms graduated from Colgate University  and Brooklyn Law School, was the legal affairs reporter with the Wall Street Journal and current contributor with the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, New York Magazine, Men’s Health, and GQ.

Randy and Laura Plimpton met while he was working on one of Martha’s book, they got married in Cutchogue, Long Island, July 28, 1990.

 

Their son Charlie Plimpton graduated in 2010 from  Weston high school in Weston, CT, he expects to graduate from the University of Rhode Island this year.

Randy J. Plimpton, 61, a real estate sales associate at William Raveis Real Estate who graduated from the university of Colorado at Boulder. Mr. Plimpton has more than 15 years in private estate management. He managed multiple estates from Maine to New York City, from Sun Valley, Idaho to the Hamptons, and locally in Bedford, NY and Westport, CT.

Mr.  Plimpton, joined William Raveis in 2011, before that he worked for two years with Household Services III, and with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia for 10 years.
