Michael Haley is the husband of Republican South Carolina Governor Nimrata Nikki Randhawa Haley, better known as Nikki Haley.



His wife of 20-years has spoken to media to warn presidential candidate Donald Trump to tone it down a notch.

Nikki Haley made  history in 2010 when she was elected governor of South Carolina, becoming both the first female and Indian-American to fill the role.

She was born on January 20, 1972 in Bamberg, South Carolina, to Sikh immigrants. The Clemson University graduate entered politics at a young age, and served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for several years before becoming governor of the state.

Her parents were the founders and owners of upscale clothing business, Exotica International, a multimillion-dollar company.

Nikki Haley was re-elected as the 116th Governor of South Carolina on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, by the largest margin of victory for a South Carolina gubernatorial candidate in 24 years.

Michael Haley attended Hilton Head Prep School and is a University of North Carolina at Charlotte graduate, holding a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He worked in the family business as a buyer and manager and later started his own finance business.

Haley worked for the clothing store founded by his mother-in-law, Raj Randhawa. His career took a different turn when he later became a full-time federal military technician with the South Carolina National Guard in 2006 –where he worked as a management analyst, state equal employment manager, strategic plans and training officer and human resource manager.

He completed his officer basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and his area of concentration at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

According to his bio, Michael Haley served with the South Carolina Army National Guard as a platoon leader, executive officer and commander of an area support medical company and is also a combat veteran having spent 11 months in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He assumed the roles of first gentleman of South Carolina when his wife, Nikki Randhawa Haley, was sworn in as the state’s 116th governor on January 12, 2011.

According to his social media, his initiatives for the state include the National Guard Youth Challenge program and other alternative schools, adoption awareness in SC, the Mansion Complex and Mansion Foundation, and the military.

Though Michael eventually graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the first couple met at the governor’s first weekend at Clemson University.

The Haleys were married in 1996. Michael Haley and Nikki performed wedding ceremonies in both a Methodist church and a Sikh gurdwara.

Together they are the parents of two children, daughter Rena and son, Nalin Haley.

Being in the political/public eye, the couple has also faced a number of scandals, including cheating allegations of Nikki Haley’s part. Michael’s wife was accused of having an affair when she was a state representative and was also accused of having a one night stand. Despite the allegations the couple has remained together.

Michael Haley’s wife, Nikki Haley –has been picked to become the new United Nations ambassador.

Accoridng to news outlets, President-elect Donald J. Trump named the female South Carolina governor, as his choice to become ambassador to the United Nations.

The news was of her selection was first reported by the The Post and Courier newspaper in Charleston, S.C.

We all remember, Haley’s critics to Trump, however, it seems that hasn’t stopped the newly elected president to add her to his prospective cabinet.

Accoridng to the NY Times, Haley met with Trump’s transition officials last week. Her name had been mentioned as a possible candidate for the secretary of state post.

For those wondering what will exactly happened to Haley, if the news is confirmed, Ms. Haley would step down as governor and be replaced by the state’s lieutenant governor, Henry McMaster.

Ms. Haley, –who is currently on her second term as South Carolina governor –would succeed Samantha Power, who has represented the United States at the United Nations since 2013.
