Jason Michael Hurley- Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland’s doppelganger

Former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland suffered one of the most bizarre incidents a celeb can be part of.

He is certainly not happy with a Thursday TMZ report claiming he is cooling his heels in jail on a $95,000 bond. The 46-year-old singer rapidly took to his Facebook account to deny the report!

Rather than being in jail, Weiland said, “I’ve actually been touring, writing and recording my new album.”

TMZ claimed that Weiland had been in jail since July after he was arrested for shoplifting razors, and said that while police were searching him at that time, they found meth. But if Scott Weiland was NOT the man arrested for meth possession, than who is?

That would be 44-year-old impostor Jason Michael Hurley.

Turns out the inmate, identified as Jason Michael Hurley, 44, was able to trick police and jail staff into thinking he was the famous rocker, police said late Thursday night.

Mr. Hurley is in quite the pickle now, since police are now requesting that he also be charged with furnishing false information to a peace officer, in addition to burglary and possession of a controlled substance for the July 26 incident.

As bizarre as it sounds Hurley pulled the prank for weeks, he actually identified himself as “former Stone Temple Pilots band member Scott Weiland. He was entered into the system and a booking sheet was filed for a 46-year-old inmate named Scott Weiland. As of today, Hurley is still listed as Scott Klein Weiland in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center and is due in court on Tuesday, August 26. (image above).

Hurley will most likely face charges of giving false information to officers but he sure had everyone fooled! Just how Hurley was able to trick police and jail staff is unclear, they are close in age and Hurley must be one good looking fella to have pulled the stun and possibly a fan of Weiland?

When busted, police received a call at 9:34 a.m. that day about a possible shoplifting at a Rite Aid on Bedford Drive. Officers searched the area and happened upon a possible suspect, who turned out to be Weiland. He was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary and cops also allegedly found meth on him.

Bail was set at $20,000 when he was processed at the Beverly Hills station, but he ended up being transferred Aug. 2 to Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles. His bail has since been upped to $95,000, according to his booking sheet.

Hurley has an upcoming court appearance Tuesday, according to records. In the meanwhile, the real Weiland is threatening TMZ with legal action for what he called “a lie.”

For what is worth, we are glad Scott is out of trouble! Find his FB profile here.
