Vanessa Marcotte is the 27-year-old woman whose body was found this morning in Princeton, Massachusetts.



Vanessa Marcotte was a NY resident and was visiting her mother when she went out for a run and never came back. According to reports, Vanessa Marcotte was killed Sunday while jogging alone on a wooded road about a half-mile from her mother’s home.

Her body was found by state police several hours after she was reported missing.

A homicide investigation is being conducted after a preliminary review of the body led detectives to believe she was the victim of a murder.

Vanessa Marcotte who was employed by Google, graduated in 2001 form the Boston University. Vanessa Marcotte was originally from Leominster, Massachusetts. The pretty brunette attended the Bancroft School, a private prep school in Worcester. Marcotte then graduated with honors from Boston University with a degree in communications.

While still a student at BU, she created a wine blog called Cheap Grapes. On blog post entry she wrote

“I am a Public Relations major with an extreme interest in all things Internet-savvy. To get a little technical, I am passionate about business strategies like SEO, Analytics and Inbound Marketing (just to name a few) and hope to develop these skills further and make them a focus in my future career”

Vanessa Marcotte moved from Boston to the Big Apple to start a new job. Accoridng to her LinkedIn page, Vanessa was listed as an account manager for Google in its healthcare division since January 2015.

Before arriving at Google, Marcotte worked at Vistaprint in Boston as a marketing specialist and senior marketing associate.  She also worked in marketing for WordStream and NPWS, Inc.

In addition, Marcotte was also a volunteer, working as a tutor for Tutoring Plus of Cambridge.

She has been described as a keen runner. She had taken part in the Falmouth Road Race in 2012 and 2014 as a member of the Dana-Farber Institute’s team to raise money for cancer research, according to the Worcester Telegram.

Parts of her body, including head, feet and hands were allegedly burned. Investigators believe she could have been sexually abused and then set on fire.

Vanessa was a fan of the New England Patriots, she was very close to her mother and aunt. Those close to her expressed her shock by the sudden death. Google said on a statement:

“Vanessa Marcotte was a much loved member of the Google team, working in our New York office for the last year and a half, and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work, and love of Boston sports” “We are deeply shocked and saddened and our thoughts are with her family and friends.”
