Javier de Silva has been arrested in connection with the death of missing woman, Valerie Reyes.



Javier de Silva and Reyes were boyfriend and girlfriend and he has been named as a primary suspect in her disappearance and subsequent killing.

24-year-old Valerie –a resident of New Rochelle, New York was reported missing on January 30th after she vanished from her home and was last seen by family members two days prior.

Her body was found inside a suitcase last week. The suitcase was found on the side of a road in Greenwich on the morning of February 5th, the Connecticut Post reported. Valerie was stuffed into a suitcase, bound at the wrists and ankles. A cause of death has yet to be released.

Reyes was a 2012 graduate of New Rochelle High School and worked at Barnes & Noble at the Vernon Hills Shopping Center in Eastchester for three years. Her mother, Norma Sanchez has spoken to media saying her daughter was afraid for her life, just days prior to her disappearance Valerie called her mom in panic saying she was scared someone would murder her. She also said Valerie who lived alone and suffered from anxiety and depression didn’t mention whether she was scared of anyone in particular.

Police got a hold of De Silva in New York, after he had fraudulently used Reyes’ ATM card. According to reports, Javier de Silva and Valerie had broken up just days before she went missing.

33-year-old Javier DeSilva also spelled Da Silva, from Flushing Queens, is facing federal charges, some sources say he has already confessed to the killing of Valerie. Some theories suggest he may have killed Valerie over domestic violence.

De Silva is described as a native of Venezuela and is an illegal immigrant having overstayed his visa.

A funeral Mass for Valerie is set for Wednesday 13th, at St. Gabriel’s Church in New Rochelle. She will then be buried at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
