Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman Suspect at Mall Of America Stabbings

Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman has been named as the suspect of a stabbing incident at Mall of America where at least two people were stabbed during a failed robbery attempt over the weekend.

Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman has been charged with two counts of first degree assault after he slashed two people at the Minnesota mall. According to reports, he sneaked into a men’s fitting room where he tried to grab something from a customer’s belongings while the customer wasn’t looking. The victim was said to be outside the fitting room, modeling clothes for relatives when Abdirahaman attempted to make his move.

However he was caught red handed and when the customer confronted him Abdirahaman pulled out a knife.

Hearing the victim’s screams, his family rushed to his aid, but Abdirahaman slashed a second person before they could seize the knife from him. Police say both stabbing victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. The victims were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for treatment.

According to Bloomington police, the incident happened Sunday night in the first-floor dressing room area of the Macy’s department store.

The Mall of America was not placed on lockdown, as Deputy Chief Mike Hartley said the rest of the patrons were not in any danger. However, the NY Post notes the scuffle freaked out nearby shoppers waiting in line for their kids to see Santa.

From his photo is safe to say Mahad put some resistance before ultimately being stopped by authorities. He is clearly seen bruised and in bad shape. An investigation is ongoing.

20-year-old Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman is a Minnesota native. He is currently in custody and some outlets have said he is of Muslim descent. Prior to the incident, Abdirahaman was a resident of Minneapolis where he is believed to live with relatives.
