Jay Allen Brent used to be married to late actress turned graphic designer, Charmian Carr. His ex-wife and mother of his children sadly died at age 73.



According to reports from the family, Carr died in Los Angeles on Sept 17, from complications of a rare form of dementia.

We all remember her from her portrayal of Liesl Von Trapp, the eldest daughter in the film, The Sound of Music.

Carr was 21 when she filmed The Sound Of Music, in which she famously sang I Am Sixteen Going on Seventeen.

Accoridng to her biographical data, Carr was born Charmian Farnon in Chicago, Illinois, the second child of vaudeville actress Rita Oehman and musician Brian Farnon. The two divorced in 1957. She has two sisters, both actresses (Shannon Farnon and Darleen Carr). Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was 10.

While a student at San Fernando High School, Carr was a cheerleader and played basketball and volleyball.

She was attending San Fernando Valley State College, studying speech therapy and philosophy, and working for a doctor, when she audition for a role in The Sound of Music.

Following the success of The Sound of Music, Carr frequently appeared at events commemorating the film. She also went on to star in Evening Primrose. Carr later wrote a couple of books about her experiences on the film: Forever Liesl and Letters To Liesl.charmain-carr-1

Carr was married to dentist Jay Allen Brent and soon after she left the business.

She became a successful interior designer after leaving the film industry in order to raise her children.

She owned and operated an interior design firm, Charmian Carr Designs, in Encino, California. Her clients included Michael Jackson, who hired her because he was a fan of the film. They developed a special friendship.

Brent and Carr were married in 1967. They remained husband and wife for 24 years until their divorce in 1991. During their marriage they became parents to daughters, Emily and Jennifer Brent.

Jay Allen Brent, attended University of Southern California, School of Dentistry graduating in 1962. Accoridng to online info, Jay Allen Brent is the owner of a solo practice located in Encino, C.A.

His former wife is survived by her sisters and brothers – Sharon, Darleen, Michael and Brian, her children, Jennifer and Emily, niece Julie, and her four grandchildren: Emma, Derek, William and Tucker.
