Richard Blum is the longtime husband of senior California senator, Dianne Feinstein.



Richard’s wife is the Senate Judiciary Committee’s ranking Democrat serving as a senator from California since 1992. The 85-year-old grabbed headlines for criticizing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s testimony, calling him “aggressive and belligerent.”

The top Democrat on the committee, Dianne was also confronted by Republicans after first receiving and failing to reveal Dr. Christine Ford’s sexual assault allegation against Kavanaugh –in a letter confidentially in July –to what she replied “Dr. Ford asked for confidentiality. That’s what I did.”

Prior to her election to the Senate, Dianne was elected to the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors and served 2 ½ terms as President of the Board. She became Mayor of San Francisco in November 1978 following the assassination of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.

Born Dianne Emiel Goldman on June 22, 1933; she’s been married a few times. First in 1956, to Jack Berman, with whom she welcomed daughter Katherine Feinstein Mariano, a judge. She and Berman divorced only three years later.

In 1962 she married second husband, Bertram Feinstein, a neurosurgeon. She was left a widow in 1978. She and current husband, Richard C. Blum have been married since 1980. They make for one of California’s power couple’s as he is a billionaire financier, speculator, real estate executive and deal maker.

Blum a longtime investment banker born Richard Charles Blum on July 31, 1935. The California native has an extensive resume, he holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1958 and an MBA degree in 1959 from the University of California at Berkeley.

Richard who goes by Dick, co-founded Blum Capital Partners in 1975 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer, President, general partner and Chairman. According to Bloomberg, he was previously Partner at the firm from May 2006 to December 2012. Mr. Blum is a Co-Founder of TPG Capital L.P. He is the Founder and Chairman of Richard C. Blum & Associates, Inc. He is the Founder and Chairman of the American Himalayan Foundation. He is also a founding member of the Council of Advisors to National Geographic International.

The 83-year-old is also a trustee and a member of the executive committee of the Carter Center, founded by former President Jimmy Carter. Mr. Blum was appointed as a regent in 2002 by Gov. Davis to a 12-year term.
