Bridgette Marshall is the late wife of Steve Marshall –who serves as the current Attorney General of Alabama.



Bridgette Marshall took her own life over the weekend following a long battle with mental illness. Reports say she had moved from her home in Alabama to Tennessee earlier this year. The lovely woman is said to have struggled for years with depression, anxiety and chronic pain. She is survived by her husband and one daughter.

Prior to her death, Bridgette Marshall volunteered at a hospice and during a recent public appearance Steve Marshall said she touched the lives of countless members of their community.

53-year-old Steve also revealed during their last phone call, she told him, ‘I’m tired of being tired and I just want to go.’”

In addition to mental illness, Bridgette Marshall also had illnesses that caused physical pain, including a digestive disorder that required a feeding tube. Since childhood, she had been plagued with painful migraines which led her to opioid dependence after she was prescribed powerful painkillers as a treatment.

A grieving Steve Marshall also said being married to him probably didn’t help with her anxiety since she had to deal sometimes with being in the limelight.

Steve Marshall –an Alabama native born October 26, 1964; attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with honors in 1987. He then graduated in the top 10% of his class from The University of Alabama School of Law. He practiced law at Maynard Cooper and Gale P.C., -and later formed McLaughlin & Marshall.

He was appointed to the Attorney General’s office in February 2017, tapped by then-Gov. Robert Bentley to fill Luther Strange’s position after Strange moved to the U.S. Senate. Marshall had previously served as Marshall County District Attorney for 16 years.

He and Bridgette Gentry had been married for several years. The couple welcomed a daughter named, Julia Faith Marshall during their marriage.  Faith attended Jacksonville State University and Snead State Community College. She is currently engaged to Bailey Simmons.
