Steve Bland is the proud husband of Welsh journalist, Rachel Bland –who has revealed she has just days to live.



Steve’s wife is best known for presenting news on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC North West Tonight. The lovely 40-year-old made public her battle with breast cancer and in a recent update she tweeted she has just days to live.

Rachael who was trained as a broadcast journalist, began her career presenting news bulletins on BBC Wiltshire. She later moved to BBC Radio 5 Live, and was first hired to read the news on Richard Bacon’s show. You may also recognize her for her gig as a BBC North West Tonight as both a newsreader and as a stand-in presenter.

Rachael was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago in 2016 and received several months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Last year she had surgery after discovering cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.

Earlier this year she announced that her cancer had spread and was now incurable. She was participating in a clinical trial of a new treatment when she announced on September 3, she has just days to live.

Rachael is married to husband, Steve Bland with whom she has one child together. The couple tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed son Freddie in 2015.

Steve Bland is also in the business as a producer. He is a former BBC producer and broadcast journalist. In 2016 it was announced that he joined Cheshire-based PR agency No Brainer as news and content manager.

Prior to joining the firm he spent six years at BBC Radio 5 Live and also worked as a senior reporter at the Solent News press agency. Bland has been right at the heart of some of the biggest news and sport stories of the last ten years, creating brilliant content and must-listen radio.
